Professor Dr. Govinda KC launches 23rd Satyagraha

Kathmandu. Professor Dr. Govinda KC has started satyagraha on the premises of Shaheed Dashrath Chand University of Health Sciences at Geta, Kailali.

Addressing a press conference today demanding reforms in medical education, he announced the launch of the three-day 23rd Satyagraha. Dr KC said that the government has started a satyagraha demanding immediate withdrawal of the government’s decision to increase the number of students to private medical colleges and not to increase the fees.

Similarly, he demanded the establishment of government medical colleges in Ilam, Udayapur and Dadeldhura as per the agreement signed in the past and immediately starting hospital services and educational programs in full capacity at Geta Medical University.

Likewise, Dr KC urged the government to pass an act related to integrated health education and appointment criteria for appointment of office-bearers of universities and institutes, make medical education non-profit as per the act and implement the previous agreements including increasing the number of posts in all health institutions including government hospitals.

He had gone on hunger strike several times in the past demanding reforms in medical education.
