Baglung. Kaligandaki River has been excavated and sand has been seized. The river products collected in violation of the rules have been seized by the District Coordination Committee Baglung and sent to Baglung Municipality for action.

Baglung: The District Coordination Committee has collected Rs 1.5 million in revenue revenue by seizing sand collected illegally by exploiting Kaligandaki within Baglung municipality.

A total of 4,972 cubic metres of sand collected from Dablang of Baglung Municipality-10 and Bhatekhola Bagar of Baglung Municipality were seized and sent to the municipality office for revenue collection.

Baglung municipality has collected Rs 1.5 million in revenue by taking action against various people involved in illegally excavating sand from Bhatekhola Bagar, Dablang Bagar and other bagars, said Saraswati Regmi, chief of the municipality’s revenue section. According to him, the municipality has taken action against various crusher traders and those involved in illegal exploitation of river products as a fine.

According to Regmi, although there was a legal provision prohibiting excavation of river products from June to August 15, the revenue was collected by confiscating the materials kept on the banks of the river by exploiting them at night. The District Coordination Committee has sent the municipality for action after monitoring the excavation of river products.

Amar Bahadur Thapa, chief of the District Coordination Committee, said the state was being directed to impose penalty and fines on baglung municipality after evaluating the results of the sand collected illegally by evading taxes.

At present, sand cannot be extracted from Kaligandaki, it can be extracted according to the standards only after getting the contract. However, it is being exploited in the middle of the night, we have started imposing fines on the basis of the results of sand kept for sale after exploitation, this campaign will not be limited to Baglung municipality but will be run throughout the district.
