Kathmandu. Kathmandu: Police have seized more than Rs 40 million in cash and around 2 kg gold from the house of Birendra Bahadur Shrestha at Gongbu of Kathmandu Metropolitan City.

Acting on specific information, police recovered the cash and gold from Shrestha’s house during a special operation today. A police officer at the Kathmandu District Police Range said that the amount may increase.

“A team from the premises and police division bus park has been raiding the house for a long time. A lot of money and gold have been found in the house,” the police said. This amount may increase to more than Rs 4 crore. ’

According to the police, preliminary investigation has revealed that illegal gold and hundi money was being collected from the house. Police raided the area on the basis of such information. Birendra Bahadur Shrestha of Gorkha district has been taken into custody.
