Kathmandu. Opposition parties in today’s meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) have demanded the government’s view on the support of China’s Global Security Initiative during Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s visit to China.

During the emergency time TAG_OPEN_div_34 of the meeting, opposition lawmakers demanded the government’s opinion on Nepal’s participation in the ‘parade’ organized to commemorate the support of the Global Security Initiative and the surrender of major development partner Japan.

Rajendra Prasad Pandey TAG_OPEN_div_32 of the opposition Nepal Communist Party (Unified Socialist) said that the Chinese side has Nepal’s support for the Global Security Initiative (GSI).

“TAG_OPEN_div_30 The statement issued by the Chinese side after the meeting of the Nepali delegation led by the Prime Minister with the Chinese President stated that Nepal would support the GSI,” Pandey said. It should be clear what the truth is. ’

On the TAG_OPEN_div_28 occasion, Lawmaker Pandey said that the Prime Minister’s participation in the parade organized to commemorate the surrender of Nepal’s major development partner Japan was against the foreign policy adopted by Nepal and the principles of Panchsheel. “The Prime Minister should be present in parliament and inform about it,” he said.

He thanked TAG_OPEN_div_26 the Chinese President for his disagreement with the recent agreement signed between India and China on the border trade through Lipulek border point, nepal’s territory. He urged the prime minister to raise similar objections during his upcoming visit to India.

“The issue TAG_OPEN_div_24 of China’s exclusion from Lipulek Kalapani as a matter between India and Nepal has come to the fore, we have always considered China as a good neighbour. China cannot be dismissed as it is only a matter of India and Nepal,” he said.

Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) lawmaker Dhaval Shumsher JBR drew the attention of the government to clarify whether it had agreed to China’s security strategy during Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s visit to China. TAG_OPEN_div_22 “This is different from the non-aligned foreign policy adopted by Nepal and if Nepal supports it, it could lead to fatal consequences in the days to come,” he said. ’

Rastriya TAG_OPEN_div_20 Swatantra Party (RSSP) lawmaker Ashok Kumar Chaudhary said they do not disagree with the need to regulate social media. “We should not threaten to shut down social media, diplomatic efforts should be made to implement the court’s decision on social media regulation,” he said.

Stating that TAG_OPEN_div_18 the government’s weakness in disaster management and disease control is clear, Lawmaker Chaudhary said it was ironic that the source of cholera spread in Birgunj could not be traced. Even after one-and-a-half weeks of cholera outbreak in Birgunj, the source has not been found, the people are in fear, but the government is silent,” he said.
