Kathmandu. Bhagwat Bhattarai has been elected president of the Society of Economic Journalists of Nepal (SEJON). The 27th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of SEJON held on Saturday elected a new working committee under the leadership of Bhagwat Bhattarai.
Bhattarai, Bishwas Regmi and Asha Thapaliya had filed their candidacies for the post. Bhattarai won with 110 votes while Regmi got 92 votes and Thapaliya got 41 votes. Similarly, Kamal Basnet has been elected general secretary with 139 votes. Achyut Puri, another candidate for the post of general secretary, got 104 votes.
Keshu Lamichhane won the post of treasurer with 133 votes while another candidate Mamta Thapa got 108 votes. Raju Baskota got 159 votes, Kamal Dhital 185, Arjun Tamang 141, Bhojraj Bhandari 147 and Seema Tamang 200 votes. Bharat Rawal received 131 votes.
Jeevan Kumar Basnet and Shankar Pandit have been elected unopposed as vice-president and secretary respectively. A total of 246 votes were cast in the election and one vote was invalid.
