Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: General Secretary duo Gagan Kumar Thapa and Bishwa Prakash Sharma have urged Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli to resign and pave the way for national consensus. Issuing a joint statement today, they urged the ministers representing the party to return from the government and also urged Prime Minister Oli to resign to pave the way for a ‘new national consensus’.

“We urged in the party meetings, in the parliament and at public places time and again that the government was not functioning properly. But neither the government nor the Prime Minister’s style was corrected. Eventually, due to the behavior of the Prime Minister, the dissatisfaction among the citizens increased. “The repression of the ‘Genji generation’ who have come out on the streets with justifiable demands such as shutting down social media, curbing corruption and maintaining good governance is condemnable,” reads the statement.

General secretaries duo Thapa and Sharma have urged party President Sher Bahadur Deuba to recall the ministers from the party, saying the seven-point agreement reached during the formation of the government has ended.

General Secretary duo Thapa and Sharma have also appealed to the government to play a strong role in making the protest programmes restraint and peaceful. They have also appealed to all political parties to stand together in the current situation through open dialogue to resolve the issue with patience.
