Death toll rises to 34, more than 1,000 injured

Kathmandu. According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 34 people have died and more than 1,000 injured have been treated in the district so far.

Spokesperson at the Ministry, Dr Prakash Budhathoki, said that 34 people died and 1,368 were treated at 41 hospitals across the country. The ministry said it has made public the details of those killed and injured during the Genji agitation by contacting various hospitals.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 34 people died in the Civil Service Hospital, eight in National Trauma Centre, three in Everest Hospital, two in Kathmandu Medical College Sinamangal, one in Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, two in Bayodha Hospital, three in Frontline Hospital, one in B&C Hospital in Birtamode, one in Birtacity Hospital, two in BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in Dharan and five in Bheri Hospital.

At present, 321 injured people have been admitted to the hospital.

Of them, 48 are being treated at the Civil Employees Hospital, 58 at the Trauma Centre, 25 at the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, 35 at Kathmandu Medical College and 26 at Birendra Sainik Hospital, according to Secretary Dr Bikash Devkota. According to him, 949 people have returned home after treatment.
