Kathmandu. President Ram Chandra Poudel has appointed Sushila Karki as the next Prime Minister.
At the request of Genji, he was appointed to lead the interim cabinet as prime minister.
The President has invoked Article 61 of the Constitution to appoint Karki as the Prime Minister. Article 940 of the Constitution states that the President shall promote national unity and uphold and protect the Constitution of Nepal.
Similarly, Article 330 states that the President shall promote national unity. Karki has been made the chairman of the Council of Ministers on the basis of both these articles.
