Myagdi. MYAGDI: Police have taken control of 52 prisoners who escaped from prison in Myagdi. A total of 76 inmates and inmates escaped from the District Prison at Khabara of Beni Municipality-2 on September 10 after breaking the padlock.
As of this morning, 52 inmates have been taken under control, said Police Inspector Sagar Poudel of District Police Office. He said that the detainees have been handed over to the prison administration. Police have been mobilized in search of 24 absconding prisoners. Police have also arrested one person who had escaped from Kathmandu and two from Kaski.
According to Police Inspector Poudel, five persons were also arrested for helping the prisoners escape and filed cases as per the Prison Act, 2079. Of the 88 inmates in the jail, six were in the women’s block, six in the men’s block and all but those who couldn’t walk had broken the locks and escaped.
