Kathmandu. KATHMANDU — Newly-appointed Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal has said that the incumbent government has been formed to hold free and fair elections. Talking to media persons after assuming office at the Home Ministry today, he said the new government was formed with the main responsibility of holding fair elections.

Minister Aryal said that the construction of structures damaged during the agitation along with the elections was in the priority of the government.

“Those displaced by the rebellion are likely to return again, even if the people give a mandate, we should go for the election,” Minister Aryal said, adding, “Those who launched a new people’s revolt have now come to this situation.” Now, even if the people’s insurrection is successful, it will have to be fully confirmed through the election. ’

Minister Aryal said that the government would investigate into the use of excessive force by the security personnel during the protests.
