Landslides obstruct Narayangadh-Muglin and Karnali highways

Jumla. Two highways have been obstructed due to landslides. CHITWAN — The Karnali Highway has been obstructed since landslides occurred at Gaganekhola of Shuvakalika rural municipality-1 in Kalikot district last night.

The Karnali highway has been obstructed due to landslides at Gagnekhola area from time to time in the past as well. It is also the most dangerous place on the highway. Chief of Jumla Road Division Office, Dipendra Kumar Chaudhary, said that the highway has been completely obstructed due to the landslide triggered by incessant rain. It will take time to clear the landslide.

Likewise, Inspector Prateek Singh of Muglin Area Police Office said that landslide has again obstructed the Narayangadh-Muglin road section. The road section was obstructed after a landslide occurred at Ichhakamana rural municipality-5, Tuinkhola at 8.50 pm on Tuesday. The road section has been obstructed after some vehicles were forced to pass through the landslide.

At present, an excavator is being used to clear the landslide and preparations are being made to take more loaders and excavators. Police Inspector Singh said it would take at least two hours to clear the landslide.

Similarly, the road has been obstructed one-way due to landslides at Ghopte cliff along the Prithvi Highway. CHITWAN — The Narayangadh-Muglin road section has been obstructed for two-way traffic following a landslide that occurred at Namsi River. It is still raining in the area. Vehicles heading towards their destinations have been stranded due to the landslide. Work is underway to clear the landslide. Passengers have been left stranded due to the obstruction of the highway.
