Bhaktapur. Two police circles and 17 police units in Bhaktapur have been repaired with the financial support of the locals.
Repair and maintenance of Jagati Police Circle and Thimi Police Circle are underway while some police divisions and posts are being repaired by the locals. The District Traffic Police Office has started functioning from a room in the fire. The renovation of the building has been started with the financial support of the locals.
Traffic Police Inspector Pradip Khatri said that the building was set on fire four years ago under the leadership of entrepreneur Nabin Prajapati.
Locals have been cleaning and plastering the building of Police Circle Jagati for the past four days by forming a construction users’ committee under the leadership of Surya Binayak Municipality-8 Sipadole Chairman Pushpa Raj Basnet.
It is estimated that around Rs 35 to 40 lakh will be required for the repair of the police circle. “We are working to restore the police circle to its original state by raising financial support from ward residents, businessmen and civil society,” he said.
The police are providing services from the building of Police Division, Doleshwor. The fire completely damaged the building of Gundu police post in ward no 7, said ward chair Rabindra Sapkota. The community police office in Katunje is also being repaired with the help of locals.
The fire completely damaged the building of Police Post Sudal at Changunarayan municipality-8 with the funds collected from the locals under the leadership of ward chair Janak Khatri.
Locals have also started renovating the building of Changunarayan police post. The office of the police unit located at Ward No. 1 Saraswatikhel has been renovated, said Sijan Karki, chairperson of the municipality.
The building of Police Circle at Madhyapur Thimi is being repaired. The cleaning and maintenance work is being carried out under the leadership of campaigner Anish Vaidya. Campaigner Vaidya said, “We have changed the gate of Police Circle Thimi, so far more than 9 lakh rupees have been collected from local citizens and donors.” It is estimated that it will cost around 25 to 30 lakhs. ’
Locals have also handed over the renovation of Sanothimi Police Division and the building of Dishwori Police Post on the banks of Manohara.
