Kathmandu. Kathmandu: Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Kulman Ghising today held discussion with stakeholders regarding the issues of road safety and ease the management of transportation during the festivals.

After the discussion, Minister Ghising instructed the passengers to inform the passengers about the condition of the road round the clock and listen to their complaints and manage them. He also directed the authorities concerned to resume the roads obstructed by floods and landslides.

According to Ghising’s secretariat, the meeting also discussed the need for making arrangements for the public vehicles to go out of the Kathmandu Valley via the Nagdhunga-Sisneri-tunnel way and also allow such vehicles to enter the Valley after Dashain.

The meeting also decided to urge the Ministry of Home Affairs to direct the Nepal Police to increase the number of police patrolling and strengthening security at New Bus Park in the Kathmandu Valley and at various highways across the country.

It has been decided to request the government not to allow the operation of heavy heavy vehicles (12-wheelers and above) along the Butwal-Narayanghat road section due to the poor condition of the highways and the need to give priority to the movement of passenger vehicles. Arrangements have been made for the continuous movement of vehicles transporting essential goods including food for the road.

The meeting also directed the Department of Roads to carry out necessary works to repair and improve the main roads across the country, to manage the necessary materials and machinery for the management of landslide-related disasters, to operate two÷hour two-way traffic along the Butwal-Narayangadh road section, to remove the obstruction at Tuin rivulet along the Narayangadh-Muglin road section and to bring the main road linking Tatopani border into operation before the Dashain festival ।

It has also been decided to issue a public notice urging the general public to travel only after knowing the weather and road conditions. The meeting also directed the Department of Roads to manage focal persons for 24 hours a day to manage the condition and safety of roads across the country.
