Kathmandu. KATHMANDU — Bada Dashain, the biggest festival of Hindus celebrated every year from Ashwin Shukla Pratipada to Purnima, has begun from today. On this day, Ghatasthapana is performed by installing lamps, kalash and Ganesh in every house according to the Vedic rituals.
After finishing the dance ritual in the morning, sand and soil are brought from the nearby river or clean place and kept in the puja room smeared with cow dung or in the Dashain house.
From today, the worship begins with the invocation of Goddess Durga, the presiding deity of power. Since barley sprouts are the favorite thing of Goddess Durga, today it is planted and offered to Goddess Durga and on the day of Bijaya Dashami, along with Tika Prasad, the yellow Jamara symbolizing prosperity is consumed.
On this day, Jamara is also duly kept at the Dashain house of Hanumandhoka Durbar Square.
