Kathmandu. KATHMANDU — The private sector entrepreneurs have pledged to unite for the improvement of the economy and prosperity of the country.

The office-bearers of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), Nepal Chamber of Commerce, National Entrepreneurs Initiative, Federation of Export Entrepreneurs and Nepal Youth Entrepreneurs’ Forum held a joint meeting in Kathmandu on Monday.

The program was initiated by central executive member of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) and Chairman of the Land Transport and Transit Committee, Shiva Prasad Ghimire.

On the occasion, entrepreneurs said that the recent agitation has caused a big loss to industry and trade, citing the example of the border point being opened within a few days with the special initiative of the government. They were of the view that the problems related to business would be easily resolved if the state worked firmly.

The business community participating in the discussion agreed to move ahead unitedly in the journey ahead, ensure the active participation of the younger generation in business policymaking, provide possible support in the reconstruction work and encourage intellectual and capable youths.

Businessmen warned that attacks on the private sector during the protests had raised questions about security and would lead to unemployment. They pointed out the need for export promotion, tourism protection and promotion of Nepal as a safe destination in the international community to further strengthen the contribution of the private sector to the economy.

Presenting the experiences and challenges of the current situation, the entrepreneurs as well as the members of various commodity associations also gave suggestions about the possible solutions to the problem and the steps the state can take. A detailed report of the discussion would be prepared and submitted to the government and bodies concerned soon.

According to the entrepreneurs, cooperation of entrepreneurs, entrepreneurs and stakeholders is essential to provide guidance to the government and ensure the safety of the private sector in the current sensitive situation.

More than 300 businessmen including office-bearers of all business organizations participated in the program.
