Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: Nepal Police is to mobilize more than 6,100 police personnel in the Kathmandu Valley this year targeting the festivals.
Additional Inspector General (AIG) of Nepal Police Dan Bahadur Karki, who is also the chief of the Kathmandu Valley Police Office, said that more than 6,100 police personnel will be mobilized in three districts of Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur as per the special security plan.
He said, “Theft, robbery and robbery are more common during Dashain, Tihar and Chhath festivals. The police will be mobilized under the command of the district chiefs. ’
According to him, patrolling with police patrol, cycle patrolling, dog sniffing at the checkpoints, mobilization of plainclothes police, CRV and QRT are on standby to reduce the criminal incidents.
Work has begun by establishing passenger help desks at 78 places in three districts of the Valley. Drones are also being monitored during the festive season. Therefore, the police have urged the general public to celebrate the Dashain, Tihar and other festivals without any fear and caution.
The police have urged all to inform the police if any new person or absconding person is seen in the locality as there is a possibility of theft and robbery this year as some inmates who were absconding during the ‘Jenji’ demonstration are absconding.
AIG Karki said that teams have been formed under the command of 18 Deputy Superintendents of Police in the Kathmandu Valley to prevent and minimize possible crimes.
