Vehicles prohibited from plying on rivers and rivers in Kathmandu Valley

Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: The government has decided to stop vehicular movement on the rivers and rivulets in view of the risk of road disruption and river erosion in various parts of the country including the Kathmandu Valley.

Issuing a press release today, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) under the Home Ministry stated that the vehicular movement along the highway has been temporarily prohibited from 6:00 pm today to 6:00 am tomorrow.

According to the NEA, the decision has been taken keeping in mind the safety of the passengers as there is a possibility of river erosion and road subsidence due to incessant rainfall.

Travelers have been requested not to travel to the area unless necessary and to follow the instructions of local administration and security personnel.
