NEA on high alert, repair team on standby to protect power infrastructure

.   The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has maintained high alert to prevent damage to electrical infrastructure due to incessant rainfall and possible flood, landslide and inundation in different parts of the country. NEA has said that it has kept its employees in a state of readiness to repair and repair power supply immediately to minimize possible damage.

Manoj Silwal, managing director of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), said that preparations have been completed after assessing the damages that might occur in grid substation, power plant and distribution line in view of disaster management.TAG_OPEN_p_7

According to Silwal, a team of 6÷6 members has been deployed in the 3÷3 as a precautionary measure to operate the gates at the dam site.TAG_OPEN_p_6 Also, water pumps have been kept ready at substations prone to inundation.

Similarly, the towers of the transmission line have been covered with tarpaulin sheets in the areas at risk of landslides and arrangements have been made to mobilize repair teams immediately in case of damage, according to NEA.TAG_OPEN_p_5

Consumers are urged to contact the concerned distribution center, “No Light” helpdesk or hotline number 1150 in case of damage or obstruction of electrical infrastructure.TAG_OPEN_p_4
