Sunsari. The water level in the Saptakoshi river has increased due to incessant rainfall since Friday and Saturday. All 56 gates of the Koshi barrage have been opened after the water level rose. Chief District Officer (CDO) Dharmendra Kumar Mishra said 56 gates were opened after the water level in the river reached 335,360 cusecs per second. According to him, the water level in the river is being carried out continuously.
The water level measurement carried out at 8.15 am today showed that 50 gates were opened after the water flow in the barrage reached 335,060 cusecs per second.
“Red beacon lights have been lit and red flags have been hoisted at Koshi Barrage as a warning sign of danger due to rising water level,” he said. According to the Saptakoshi Water Measurement Control Room, the water level has reached above the danger point.
Chief District Officer Mishra has urged the people living in the coastal areas of Udayapur and Sunsari to stay alert as some areas of Udayapur and Sunsari districts are at risk of floods.
