PM Karki denies Oli’s use of social account, unveils new account

Kathmandu. Normally, when the Prime Minister leaves the post, the future Prime Minister should also hand over the username and password of the social network. Whoever becomes the Prime Minister, the same social media account is used. Because it is official of the government.

However, Sushila Karki, who came to power from the Jenji Youth Rebellion of September 23 and 24, did not use the social media used by former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli. She will be using her new accounts on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Issuing a press release today, Rabilal Pantha, joint secretary and spokesperson at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, the username of the account used by the current Prime Minister is different from the one used by the previous prime ministers.

Previous prime ministers used the X-@PM_nepal handle. However, Prime Minister Sushila Karki will use the X-handle @pmsushilakarki from now on.

Ajaya Bhadra Khanal, chief advisor to Prime Minister Sushila Karki, said that the old account is being used as it reflects the activities of former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.

X Account Transfer from Oli’s Secretariat

According to Khanal, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s secretariat has only handed over the X (Twitter) account, that too only on Sunday.

Facebook and Instagram have not yet been transferred. Khanal said that he has opened new accounts on Facebook and Instagram.

At present, Prime Minister Karki’s secretariat has access to both the @PM_nepal and the newly opened @pmsushilakarki the newly opened the secretariat of Prime Minister Karki. Khanal said that most of the @pmsushilakarki use the account.

He said that if there is any very official government information posted on the @pmsushilakarki X account, then it will be retweeted from the @PM_nepal.

He said that technical teams are being consulted about managing Facebook and Instagram.
