Kathmandu. The Election Commission (EC) has put off all programmes related to the by-election scheduled for November 3 in the Manang District House of Representatives Constituency No. 1 and State Assembly Constituency No. 2.
According to the EC, all the works as per the pre-published election programme have been put off for the time being as per the decision of October 1. Issuing a press release today, EC Spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai said.
The by-election scheduled for November 3 in accordance with the Election Commission Act-2073 and the Provincial Assembly Member Election Act-2074 has been postponed due to the agitation that took place since September 7.
Acting Chief Election Commissioner Ram Prasad Bhandari and other commissioners held discussions with Finance Minister Rameshwor Prasad Khanal, Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal, Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Anil Kumar Sinha among others regarding the preparations for the upcoming House of Representatives election scheduled for March 4.
During the discussions, the EC apprised the Commission of its preparations and its activities, pledged to provide necessary resources and reliable security and support to hold the elections in a free, fair, fear-free and economical manner.
