Kathmandu. Pesticides have been found in large quantities in green beans, cucumbers and cucumbers being sold at the Kalimati Fruits and Vegetables Market in Kathmandu.
According to the Kalimati Fruits and Vegetables Market Development Committee, 45.59 per cent of the green beans imported from Makwanpur, 65.03 per cent of the cucumbers imported from Dhading and 52.92 per cent of the cucumbers produced in Kathmandu were found to contain organophosphate.
The Central Agriculture Laboratory on Thursday tested 15 varieties of vegetables and fruits from 15 shops in the Kalimati Vegetable Market. During the test, the pesticide was found in green cucumber, cucumber and cucumber. According to the committee, these vegetables which are found to be high in pesticides are unfit for consumption.
