Kathmandu. Although Tihar is still few days away for the commencement of Tihar, the crowd of shoppers has increased in various markets of the federal capital Kathmandu.
This year, Tihar will begin from October 2. However, traders say that the hustle and bustle has increased as consumers have started rushing to the market to buy the goods needed during the festival. The number of people buying Tihar products is increasing day by day in New Road, Asan, Indrachowk, Bhotahiti, Lagankhel, Baneshwor, Koteshwor, Thimi, among other places of the capital.
Bhaikaji Maharjan, a businessman of Asan, said that people leaving the valley are now buying earthen lamps, twinkling lamps, seven-colored tikas, velvet flower garlands, items used in the Laxmi Puja, Bhaimasala, Amla, Dhaka topi, utensils and clothes.
He said, “Now there is a lot of excitement in the local market due to the people shopping for the festival. The number of people buying materials for the festival is increasing daily. ’
Similarly, small and big shops and shopping centers here have been selling goods with various offers and discounts targeting the Tihar festival. In the evening, Tihar items can be seen decorated on the roadside and pavement. Where the crowd of customers can be seen.
Shanti Bhujel, who has been selling clothes on the footpath of Sundhara, said that there is a lot of activity in the market especially during evening and holidays. He said, “People buying new clothes and buying twinkling lights and home décor items are remarkable. Business is also doing well now because of shopping. ’
Amirman Shrestha, a cloth trader at Indrachowk, said that the demand for Bhaimsala packs, Dhaka topi, tika sets, sweets and gift items is increasing in the country. “Nowadays, attractive clothes and make-up materials are sold especially for women and children, as well as sweets like Dhaka topi, tika set and other items required during the festival,” he said. ’
Traders say that the business of winter clothes has started increasing with the increase in cold. Now, traders here have started selling goods targeting the winter season ।
