Kathmandu. According to the Department of Prison Management, 5,547 prisoners who escaped from various jails of the country during the Jenji agitation on September 7 and 24 a month ago are still absconding. The Department has made public the list of absconding prisoners today.
A Home Minister-level decision held at the Ministry of Home Affairs today directed to take the escaped prisoners under immediate control.
The department has decided to send the details of the absconding prisoners to all the 77 district administration offices including the Election Commission, security bodies, immigration, land management, transport management, passport, foreign employment, labor and survey departments.
The Ministry has already formed a task force under the coordination of Assistant Chief District Officer at the district level to search for and arrest the absconding prisoners.
The details of the absconding prisoners have been made public on the websites of the Department of Prison Management and all the district administration offices. The service recipient agencies should immediately inform the task force and security agencies and assist in arresting the absconding prisoners if they come to receive service.
