Poisonous substance found in Akbar-e-chilli, unfit for consumption

Kathmandu. Poisonous substances have been found in Akbare chillies.

Chillies kept for sale at the Kalimati Fruits and Vegetables Market have been found to contain high levels of pesticides.

According to the Kalimati Fruits and Vegetables Market Development Committee, 49.032 per cent organophosphate was found in the chillies brought by Sabitri Balami of Makwanpur.

Similarly, the poisonous chilli brought by another farmer from the same place was also found.

According to the market, 51.446 per cent organophosphate was found in Akbare chili brought by Jhankanath Rimal of Makwanpur.

According to the committee, if the carvamate and organophosphate content of vegetables is less than 35 percent, it is considered edible.

Similarly, if it is 35 percent to 45 percent, it can be eaten for a few days, and if it is found to be more than 45 percent, it is considered unfit to eat.
