Kanchanpur. The minimum support price of paddy has been fixed in Kanchanpur this year.

According to a notice issued by Chief District Officer Laxman Dhakal, the price of coarse paddy has been fixed at Rs 3,463.81 per quintal and medium paddy at Rs 3,628.33 per quintal.

The support price has been determined in the district as per the decision of the Council of Ministers of Government of Nepal on August 9. According to a notice issued by Chief District Officer Dhakal, farmers, rice industrialists and traders have been urged to buy and sell paddy at the fixed price. The local levels have been directed to implement the decision within the local level area.

At present, the harvesting, drying and threshing of paddy crops is going on throughout the district. The farmers have welcomed that the support price has been fixed on time. Gahanu Chaudhary, a local farmer, said that the decision to fix the support price of paddy is welcome. He said that the farmers would get relief if the government procurement depot was set up at the local level and the paddy was purchased at the fixed price.
