Damauli. Bhanu Tanahun Irrigation and Water Resources Management Project has implemented projects worth over Rs 150 million for irrigation and landslide control. According to the office, various projects worth Rs 15.75 crore have been implemented in the current fiscal year.
Project chief Supindra Khatri said that Rs three million each has been allocated for five big projects. According to him, Rs 30 million has been allocated for Dasdhunga Trishuli River Broad Lift Irrigation Project at Devghat Rural Municipality-5, Rs 30 million for Jarayo Khola Canal Irrigation Project, Rs 30 million for Shishaghat Valley Lift Irrigation Project at Byas Municipality-6, Bhanu Chundi Baraha Irrigation Project at Bhanu Municipality-4, Rs 30 million for Tar Bazaar Conservation Programme at Shuklagandaki Municipality and Rs 30 million for the Galeshwor Ashram Tatopani landslide control at Devghat rural municipality-5 ।
Similarly, Rs 75 lakh has been allocated for the control of Marsyangdi and Daraudi rivers. The office has been working in Tanahun, Lamjung, Manang and Gorkha. Initially, Palungtar Irrigation Project and Kundutar Irrigation Project were established in fiscal year 2075/76 BS with a major objective of implementing Palungtar Irrigation Project and Kundutar Irrigation Project.
In the fiscal year 2081/82, the Office of Irrigation and Water Resources Management was renamed as Gorkha, Gorkha with the jurisdiction of Tanahun, Gorkha, Lamjung and Manang. In the current fiscal year 2082/83, the Irrigation and Water Resources Management Project has been shifted to Bhanu Tanahun.
Khatri said that the office has been carrying out necessary study and survey for the construction of different irrigation infrastructures, construction of embankments, spurs and revetment in the areas affected by inundation and erosion in the Daraudi, Dordi and Marsyangdi rivers, land improvement, river control, irrigation and river management.
