Kathmandu. Kathmandu: The Traffic Police has launched a special campaign against drunk drinking in the Kathmandu Valley.

The Traffic Police has adopted special alertness this year as alcohol consumption is considered the major cause of road accidents during festivals in the Kathmandu Valley in the past years.

The security personnel and traffic police under the direction of Additional Inspector General of Police (AIG) Dan Bahadur Karki have been carrying out inspection at main crossroads, roads and alleys of Kathmandu Valley since early morning till night.

He said that the civil and traffic police personnel have been deployed on the roads throughout the day today as per the expectation of the police to make the festival safe, disciplined and disciplined.

“Our aim is not to punish, but to raise awareness. We are working on the streets with the message that the citizens should take responsibility for their own security. It is the expectation of Nepal Police that the festival should be safe, disciplined and disciplined,” said Additional Inspector General of Police Karki.

Kathmandu Traffic Police Chief and Senior Superintendent of Police Nawaraj Adhikari himself was involved in the campaign. He also inspected drivers in Tripureshwar, New Baneshwor, Kalanki, Durbarmarg, Maharajgunj, Gaushala, Chabahil, Balkhu and other areas.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Adhikari said hundreds of vehicles were tested throughout the Kathmandu Valley on the occasion of Bhai Tika.

“Our main objective is to prevent accidents due to alcoholism,” he said. That’s why we have conducted an awareness program on the streets along with the testing of alcohol throughout the day. ”

The Traffic Police have enforced strict drunk driving this year as compared to last year during the festivals like Dashain and Tihar. The traffic police had distributed awareness pamphlets and miking among the road users in different parts of the Kathmandu Valley with the slogan ‘Let us drive without drinking, support all for safe journey’.
