EVs worth Rs 6.25 billion in three months, revenue collected around Rs 4 billion

Kathmandu. Electric vehicles (EVs) worth Rs 6.25 billion were imported in the first three months of the current fiscal year.

The state has collected Rs 3.91 billion in revenue from the import of 2,620 units of EVs till mid-October. According to the Department of Customs, EVs have been imported from China, India, Thailand, the UK, Germany, South Korea and the US.

China accounts for the largest number of imported EVs in Nepal. India is in the second position. According to the department, Nepal has imported 1,937 EVs from China. The state imported EVs worth Rs 4.62 billion from China and Rs 2.93 billion in taxes.

During the period, 201 units were imported from Thailand, 1 unit from the UK, 5 units from Germany, 2 units from Korea and 11 units from the USA.

As many as 463 EVs worth Rs 95.54 crore have been imported from India till mid-October. As a result, the state has collected Rs 53.35 crore as tax.

The highest number of EVs from 51 to 10 kW has been imported in Nepal. Similarly, 542 EVs with 51 kW capacity and 304 EVs with capacity of 101 to 200 kW were imported.
