Kathmandu. The Supreme Court has begun hearing on the writ petitions filed against the dissolution of the House of Representatives. The hearing on the writ petitions was underway before the constitutional bench comprising Chief Justice Prakash Man Singh Raut and Justices Sapana Pradhan Malla, Kumar Regmi, Hari Prasad Phuyal and Dr Manoj Kumar Sharma.
Writ petitioner Dr Prem Raj Silwal started the hearing in the constitutional bench of Annex Building of the Supreme Court. Similarly, senior advocates Tikaram Bhattarai and Sher Bahadur KC took part in the hearing on the case.
President Ram Chandra Poudel had dissolved the House of Representatives on September 27 on the recommendation of the interim government. A total of 16 writ petitions have been filed at the Supreme Court demanding mandamus order against the appointment of the interim Prime Minister, annulment of the dissolution of the House of Representatives and reinstatement of the parliament. The preliminary hearing on the writ petition has been held from today.
Advocates Prem Raj Silwal, Yubaraj Poudel, Kirtinath Sharma Poudel, Aayush Badal, Makabul Miya, Khadka Bahadur Shah, Dambar Prasad Shiwakoti, Dal Bahadur Dhami, Prakash Bhujel and Bipin Dhakal, Abhash Pokharel, Om Prakash Jung Shah, Bimal Pokharel, Dr Punya Prasad Khatiwada and Sher Bahadur Rokaya have filed the writ against the House of Representatives.
