Kathmandu. Employees of the Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON) have demanded the resignation of its chairman Santosh Narayan Shrestha on the 39th day of the protest.
The employees who have been protesting for the past 39 days against the decision of the Ministry of Finance today demanded the resignation of the chairman and threatened not to allow him to enter the office.
While all the employees are in a constant state of dialogue, the board chairman Shrestha has expressed regret for entering the office with the police administration on November 28 and said that the employees will not be allowed to enter the office anymore.
Although the employees of the board and the unions active in the board are fully flexible to return to work after ending the struggle, there
is no concrete effort to solve the problem by the chairman of the board and the board of directors.
The Securities Board of Nepal Employees Union has claimed.
“We believe that the Chairman of the Board who cannot stand by defending the interests of the employees and the past decisions of the Board of Directors is not fit to hold the office for a minute on moral grounds,” reads the statement. ’
“Even the Ministry of Finance has not made any proper efforts to address the asymmetry situation created in the Securities Board of Nepal and the government’s goal of developing and expanding the capital market by closing the regulator of the capital market will not be achieved,” he said. Both the unions have demanded the government to immediately withdraw the decision of the revenue secretary level to scrap the work procedure issued by the Board of Directors of the Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON) and to keep the autonomy of the board intact.
