Kathmandu. The Central Working Committee (CWC) meeting of the Nepali Congress has been postponed again. NC Chief Secretary Krishna Prasad Poudel said that the next meeting of the party’s working committee has been scheduled for 1 pm on November 3.
The meeting has requested the central working committee office-bearers, members, invitee members and all 7 province presidents to be present in the meeting. The meeting has been postponed due to lack of consensus among the establishment and non-establishment factions to present the proposal regarding fixing the date of the party’s 15th general convention in the central committee meeting. Earlier, Friday’s meeting was adjourned in the same way.
Debate is underway in the NC on whether to hold the general convention after the general election on March 4 announced by the incumbent government or to hold the general convention before that. The meeting has been discussing the issues related to the Jenji movement, the damage to the party office and leaders’ residences due to the vandalism and arson during the movement, the reconstruction of the party’s political developments, the party’s 15th general convention, the dissolution of the House of Representatives, the upcoming election of March 4, the state of the country’s peace and security and good governance, natural disasters and compensation and reconstruction, decision of the work execution committee and the provisions related to the discipline, according to central member Madan Krishna Shrestha ।
Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba had appointed Purna Bahadur Khadka as the acting president of the party.
The couple was seriously injured in a gang attack during the Jenji agitation on September 7 and 24. They are currently in Singapore for further treatment.
