26 foreign prisoners who escaped from Bhimphedi prison are yet to come into contact

Bagmati. Of them, 26 who escaped from the regional prison at Bhimphedi rural municipality in Makwanpur district are still absconding.

Of them, 13 foreign inmates have returned to prison and 26 are still absconding, according to prison chief Subash Poudel.

Likewise, out of 440 prisoners who escaped from Bhimphedi jail, 286 have returned to the prison so far while 154 are yet to return.

According to Prison Chief Poudel, 71 absconding prisoners from other prisons have also returned to Bhimphedi prison. Of the 71 inmates of other prisons, 35 have been sent to the transfer while one has been released from detention and 35 are in prisons, Poudel said.

A total of 440 prisoners, including 260 inmates from block (A) and 180 from block (A), escaped after breaking open three gates of the prison and breaking down the western wall of the prison. In course of searching for the absconding inmates, security personnel took the inmates under control from different places and handed them over to prison, Poudel said.

Spokesperson of the District Police Office, Makawanpur, Deputy Superintendent of Police Pushkar Bogati said that the search for the absconding inmates has been intensified.
