Kathmandu. The government is now being heavily criticized for the notice published in the Nepal Gazette on September 26.

The Ministry of Finance had issued a notice in the gazette exercising the powers given by the Council of Ministers under Section 18 (1) of the Finance Act, 2082. It is now being criticized everywhere.

Criticism has increased saying that if the government’s decision is implemented, there is a risk of dumping vehicles spreading pollution in Nepal.

“The Ministry of Forest and Environment shall grant permission to import the vehicles or spare parts as per the previous standards till December 1, 2082 in the case of vehicles that have already issued proforma invoice before the implementation of the Nepal Vehicle Pollution Standard, 2082 and the vehicles assembled or manufactured in Nepal using the necessary parts for the production of such vehicles,” reads the gazette published by the Ministry of Finance ।

With the government’s decision, the government has paved the way for the import of Euro-3 standard vehicles. The government’s decision to hold the elections on the strength of the Genji agitation on September 23 and 24 has been criticized.

Rameshwor Khanal, who is also the former Finance Secretary, is the Finance Minister in this ministry. Why did someone who understood him take such a policy for a short time? Now it has become a matter of concern for everyone.

The Nepal Vehicle Pollution Standard-2082 has already been implemented. According to this standard, Euro 6 has been implemented for four-wheelers and Euro 5 for two-wheelers in Nepal from June 22. The government has decided to allow traders to import Euro 3 compliant four-wheelers and spare parts till November 3.
