“Global tender process has been initiated to construct an obstetrics and gynecology hospital in Thankot at an estimated cost of Rs 1 billion.

Kathmandu. Mayor of Chandragiri municipality Ghanashyam Giri and German ambassador to Chandragiri Udo Eugen Volz held a meeting on Friday.

On the occasion, the two leaders discussed about the hospital being constructed at Chandragiri-4, Thankot with financial and technical assistance of around Rs 1 billion from the German Development Bank (KfW).

On the occasion, Mayor Giri said that he was continuously taking initiatives, facilitating and coordinating for the construction of a new building for the Obstetric and Gynecology Hospital.

Paropakar Maternity and Gynecology Hospital is going to be constructed as a satellite hospital of Thapathali, a 25-bed hospital in Thankot. For this, KfW has approved the preliminary blueprint and has reached the ‘Global Tender’ stage. KfW has already pledged financial and technical support worth $1 billion for the hospital.

The Council of Ministers has already approved 23 ropanis of land to the municipality for the construction of the specialist hospital building on the premises of Primary Hospital Thankot. The Detailed Project Report (DPR) was prepared by the Government of Nepal, Ministry of Health and Population and KfW with facilitation, coordination and cooperation of the municipality.

In the third week of May, a high-level team from the central office of KfW including Michael Sweeper and Prof. Dr. York arrived in Nepal to conduct an on-site study to prepare the report required to proceed with the global tender process along with the detailed blueprint of the hospital.
