Kathmandu. The Association of Nepali Origin (ANO) has elected a 21-member US National Committee under the chairmanship of Bhuwan Gautam.
The conference held in Carlyle of Pennsylvania of the United States of America elected Dr Sanju Mahato as the vice-chairperson, Bibek Poudel as secretary, Chandra Parajuli as joint secretary, Trishna Chimoriya as treasurer and a new working committee as members, according to NNO central general secretary Chudamani Bhattarai.
Inaugurating the conference, Chargé d’ Affaires of Nepal to the United States of America Sharad Raj Aran said the Nepalis could make a big contribution to the building and prosperity of Nepal.
He said that the embassy would hold discussions on how to recognize the people of Nepali origin living in different countries of the world and take the demands of ANO to the Government of Nepal.
ANO President Dilli Adhikari demanded that the government of Nepal should give Nepali identity to the people of Nepali origin who are ready to contribute to Nepal’s prosperity. He said that the people of Nepali origin who went out of the country not as foreigners but went out of the country generations ago were ready to contribute in every sector of Nepal as the representative of Nepali ethnicity.
On the occasion, Honorary Consul of Nepal to Ohio State and central member of ANO, Dr. Damodar Poudel expressed his confidence that ANO’s campaign to connect Nepali ethnic people with Nepal has gained momentum in recent days and expressed the belief that Nepali origin would contribute to Nepal’s prosperity through this campaign.
NNO International Board of Trustees Omraj Gurung and General Secretary Chudamani Bhattarai informed that the social activists representing different states of the United States have been elected to the National Delegate Committee.
Students of the singing and dancing class of the Intra-National Welfare and Support Foundation presented dance and songs reflecting Nepali culture in the conference.
On the occasion, newly elected Commissioner of Swatara Township, Binita Puri Rai of Nepali origin was felicitated by ANO and the Foundation.
