The rural municipality has allocated Rs 22.5 million for the construction of a high-tech tunnel in the current fiscal year with the objective of attracting local farmers towards technology-friendly farming.TAG_OPEN_div_32 According to the agriculture section of the rural municipality, the programme is expected to diversify production, continue off-season vegetable farming and attract youths back to agriculture.
“We have tried to open the way for sustainable income by bringing farmers access to technology through this program,” said Thaman Bahadur Reshmi, Chief Administrative Officer of the rural municipality.TAG_OPEN_div_30 According to him, tunnel farming will give a new dimension to the agriculture sector as it can yield more at a lower cost than the traditional system.
