MoU signed for 11 new development projects with Indian grant assistance

Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: A memorandum of understanding (MoU) has been signed for 11 high impact community development projects in the field of education, health and waste management in Nepal with the grant assistance of the Government of India.

The MoU was signed by the Embassy of India, Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration, Government of Nepal and Project Implementation Agencies of Government of Nepal. The estimated cost of the project is around Rs 1.16 billion, according to the embassy.

Since 2003, the Government of India has implemented 590 High Impact Community Development Projects in Nepal. Among them, 502 projects have been completed in the sectors of education, health, drinking water, sanitation, connectivity and public utility sectors and the remaining projects are in different phases. All these projects are being carried out in all seven provinces of Nepal.

As neighbours, India and Nepal have long-standing, multi-dimensional and multi-sectoral cooperation. These projects supported by the Government of India are expected to contribute to human empowerment in Nepal as well as infrastructure development in priority sectors.
