Biratnagar. A total of 1,116 cattle died of Lumpy Skin Disease in Koshi Province this year, according to the Directorate of Livestock and Fisheries Development Sunsari, Dharan. The disease, which is seen at any time, was seen in the summer and rainy season this year.
Directorate’s veterinarian Purushottam Pandey said 3,154 out of 394,585 cattle in the province were diagnosed with lumpy skin. To prevent the disease caused by the virus, the directorate had injected cattle and was able to control the disease on time.
The pest was seen in all the districts except Solukhumbu of Koshi Province this year while no cattle died of this disease in Panchthar and Tehrathum districts, said Dr Pandey. After this disease in cows, symptoms like lump-like appearance in the body, fever, wounds, bursting, weight loss, weakness are seen.
