Kathmandu Metropolitan City completes 732 building design processes in three months

Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has finalized the process related to the design of 732 buildings in the past three months of the current fiscal year.

In this, permission has been granted for 238 plinth level and 7 more floors. A total of 399 building completion certificates have been issued. DPC transfer of 4 and ownership of 84 DPC transfers have been transferred. Senior Division Engineer Harishchandra Lamichhane, chief of the Department of Urban Management, said, “On a monthly basis, 270 building design works were completed in the month of July, 174 in August and 288 in the month of October.” ’

According to Lamichhane, in the last fiscal year (2081/082), the metropolis had completed the design of 3,768 buildings. Out of these, the department had issued licenses up to 1,272 plinth level. Additional floor permits were issued for 51 of them. It issued 2,282 construction completion certificates. It issued 2 DPC namsari and 18 DPC namsari certificates. It also transferred 143 ownerships.

If we look at the monthly figures of that fiscal year, 391 building designs were approved in July, 437 in August, 355 in September, 188 in Kartik, 257 in November, 279 in Poush, 302 in January, 328 in February, 416 in March, 296 in April, 187 in May and 277 in June.

The metropolis conducts all these processes online. The name of this process is EBPS i.e. Electronic Building Permit System. The process related to approval of building design, completion of construction, namsari and other processes related to building design and revenue payment can be done online.

The temporary map of the building with an area of up to 5,000 square feet i.e. up to the DPC is approved by the ward. The approval for the construction of the upper structure of the building will be done by the center. In this, the map of 5,000 square feet to 7,000 square feet is approved by the division chief. The design of 7,000 to 30,000 square feet is approved by the departmental head.

Buildings with an area of more than 10,000 square feet are approved based on the evaluation of the technical jury. ’

The testing system has been put into practice in seven wards including Ward No. 1, 6, 14, 16, 26, 31 and 32 since September 3, 2013. From September 1, 2014, the system was started in seven additional wards including Ward No. 4, 7, 9, 13, 15, 29 and 30. The service was expanded to all wards from August 14, 2016.
