Mahendranagar. An on-site monitoring has begun from Gaddachauki of Kanchanpur to upgrade the East-West Highway into a four-lane. A joint team of the Department of Roads and donor agency World Bank (WB) has started field monitoring and study to upgrade the highway into a four-lane road.
Chief of the Road Division Office, Rajesh Kumar Yadav, shared that the government has started field monitoring for the expansion of the highway and the preparation of its Detailed Project Report (DPR) has entered the phase.
A team led by Deputy Director General of the Department of Roads Arjun Prasad Aryal and a representative of the World Bank arrived here to carry out a study on the 45-km road from Gaddachauki of western border to Attariya of Kailali. Division Chief Yadav said, “Now, the Department of Roads will select consultants within three months and start the works. ’
He said that he is hopeful that the design work will move forward soon by selecting a consultant. “Earlier, the Road Division had been carrying out up-gradation works at intersections along the highway and small market areas to reduce road accidents. Yadav said, “So far, around two kilometers of road has been upgraded to the Chowk area. ’
Similarly, Deputy Director General of the Department of Roads, Arjun Prasad Aryal, said that the section from Chandrauta to Gaddachauki of Kapilvastu was yet to be upgraded. “We are planning for the future. We are monitoring the same. ’
“The rest of the road will be upgraded with the support of ADB and World Bank, two partner institutions,” he said. We design and study according to the advice and consent of both. He added that the detailed project report (DPR) would be prepared immediately.
