Industrialists worried over rising insecurity

Head. Industrialists and businessmen of Siraha are worried due to frequent agitations, weak market condition and administrative hassles.

At a reception, felicitation and interaction program organized by the District Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Siraha, here today, the industrialists and entrepreneurs drew the attention of the stakeholders to resolve the problems.

Speaking at the programme attended by Chief District Officer Surendra Poudel and chiefs of all four security bodies, Association President Bikash Sarda stressed that the state should be serious to create environment conducive for boosting the morale of private sector.

“The private sector is in trouble due to the COVID-19 pandemic, economic slowdown, the Genji demonstrations, and the damage caused by the disaster, including rains. Attacking the private sector that invests by taking loans but creates employment has put the country’s economic future at risk,” he said.

Chairman Sarada said that the bank’s strict loan policy, lack of dynamic market and attraction of Nepali customers across the border are the challenges for the domestic market.

Former President of the Association Ashok Lal Amatya, President of Sukhipur Industry Trade Committee Suraj and President of Hotel and Tourism Entrepreneurs Association Siraha Ram Kumar Gupta expressed their grievances.

Mahesh Prasad Chaudhary, mayor of Lahan Municipality, said that they were ready to facilitate the traders to resolve their problems. He was of the view that long-term solution to the problem would be possible only if all sides move ahead together with collective spirit.

Stating that the role of private sector was significant in strengthening the economy, CDO Poudel said the administration was committed to creating a safe and stable environment. Stating that peace and security were not only the responsibility of the state but also of the civil society and the community, he stressed the need for resolving the problems through collaboration.

CDO Poudel said that night hotel business would be allowed to operate for 24 hours in the highway area, other businesses could operate till 9:00 pm. He also urged the entrepreneurs not to carry out business by sneaking goods through the open border.
