NEA’s decision to raise tariff for dedicated trunk line is correct: EC, Panchakanya does not get interim order

.  The Electricity Regulatory Commission (ERC) has endorsed the decision of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) regarding the dispute over dedicated and trunk line tariffs.

} The Commission has refused to issue an interim order after hearing the complaint of two industries.

The Commission has heard the complaint filed by Panchakanya Plastic Industries Pvt Ltd and Panchakanya Steel.TAG_OPEN_div_16 These industries had been refusing to pay the electricity tariff from the dedicated trunk line taken from the NEA for a long time.

The NEA had last disconnected the power supply to these industries on October 19 and 20, giving 21 days’ time.TAG_OPEN_div_14 The NEA had applied to the commission paying the first installment of the fee. A single bench comprising NHRC Chair Dr Ram Prasad Dhital and four other members took part in the hearing on the applications filed by these two industries.

Raj Kumar Pokharel, Ramesh Kumar Ghimire and Tularam Giri argued on behalf of the NRA.TAG_OPEN_div_12 According to the commission, Rojan Khadka argued on behalf of the industrialists.

TAG_OPEN_div_10 The commission has concluded that the NEA has fixed the tariff within the legal provisions. The commission has concluded that the arrangement of disconnecting the line if the fixed tariff is not paid within the stipulated time is as per the legal provision. If the petitioner is not satisfied with the decision of the commission, the petitioner can go to the industrial court.
