Kathmandu. The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has filed a charge-sheet at the Special Court, Kathmandu against six persons, including Ashok Kumar Singh, the acting chief of the Health Office, Bajura.
The case has been filed against the then engineer of Education Development and Coordination Unit, Bajura, Sunesh Kumar Chaurasiya, sub-engineer Naresh Rawat, chairperson of Maternity Centre Building Construction Consumer Committee Paras Rokaya, secretary Muna Rokaya and treasurer Khadak Adi of the Education Development and Coordination Unit, Bajura, according to CIAA Spokesperson Rajendra Kumar Poudel.
The District Health Office, Bajura had given the responsibility to the consumer committee for the construction of the maternity centre at Himali Rural Municipality-6 at a cost of Rs 2,615,206. However, the CIAA’s investigation revealed that the construction of the building was constructed when it could not be used against the cost estimate and standards and the payment was taken on the basis of fake bills and reports.
According to the CIAA, the constructed structures have now become useless and have turned into ruins, causing misappropriation, loss and misuse of public property. The commission has fixed a claim of Rs 1,508,557 each against the defendants.
