Licenses printed by Security Printing Center handed over to Department of Transport Management

Kathmandu. The Security Printing Press has handed over the driving license printed for the first time to the Department of Transport Management.

The license was handed over to Keshab Khatiwada, Director of Information and Technology at the Department of Transport Management, by Executive Director of the Centre Devraj Dhungana on Friday. In the first phase, the Centre has handed over 520 licenses. The center has received the data of about 1200 applicants in the second phase and the printing will continue.

Executive Director Dhungana said that the printing would be expedited based on the data provided by the Department. He said that any number of licenses can be printed on the basis of the data sent by the department. Executive Director Dhungana has provided the new licenses to the Department after testing the quality of various parameters through a Nepal’s own lab.

Director Khatiwada said that a big problem has been solved after getting the license from the printing centre. “We are happy that the problem of the organization has been resolved,” he said. The department has been facing the problem of license for the last 4÷5 years. A positive initiative has been made to solve the problems of the service recipients. The license was obtained by signing an agreement with the Security Printing Center. This work will be continued. ”

An agreement was signed between the Centre and the Department on November 26 for the printing of licenses. As per the agreement, the Centre will have to provide 12 lakh units of licenses to the Department within six months. The Department has said that two thousand data can be made available to the center daily by developing alternative software. According to the department, the new software will be developed within a month.

The printing of licenses began on November 7 at the building of Security Printing Centre in Panauti Municipality-5 of Kavrepalanchowk. Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Jagadish Kharel, inaugurated the printing license by pressing the button of the printing press.

According to the agreement with the department, a total of 12 lakh licenses would be printed in the first three months at the rate of one lakh in three months and nine lakhs in the remaining three months. Apart from the license, the center is preparing to start printing postage stamps within a few days. After this, citizenship, excise duty sticker, land ownership certificate and visa sticker will be printed.

QR codes have been used instead of chips in the cards printed from the center. It has a high-level security system. The new card will have six layers of security technology. There will be 34 types of security features in the card, some of which will be visible and some will be invisible.
