Kathmandu. A total of 267 people have been arrested on charges of arson and vandalism during the Genji agitation on September 7 and 24.
According to the District Police Range, 154 cases have been filed so far on the charge of vandalism and arson. According to the police, 87 people have been released on bail.
Police released 33 on bail while 43 others have been remanded in custody for further investigation.
According to the District Police Range, Kathmandu, one hundred and four complaints have been registered related to arson, vandalism and criminal nuisance. Of them, 22 were related to the incidents of torching and vandalizing government offices, 66 of the incidents of arson and vandalism of government offices and 16 of the cases of arson and vandalism of institutional and business establishments, the Supreme Court and the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA).
A total of 42 complaints have been registered. Three of them are police officers. The process of DNA testing of seven unidentified persons has begun. The whereabouts of the missing have been recovered. According to police, 228 cases have been filed in connection with the damage to the building structures during the agitation.
One hundred and two inmates who escaped from different jails during the agitation have been arrested and released. So far, 83 weapons have been seized and deposited.
