Birgunj. The Department of Roads had announced to install bailey bridge at Tilabe rivulet in Parsa this year as well, but it has not been completed. The department has canceled the bid of ‘Steel Bailey Bridge’.

The tilabe bridge on the border of Birgunj Metropolitan City Bahudarmai Municipality, which connects the rural areas of Parsa, has been damaged due to floods during the rainy season of 2081 BS.

The bridge is at risk after the flood damaged the pillar adjacent to the foundation of the Tilabe bridge. At present, vehicles have been banned from plying on the bridge.

Manoj Kumar Patel, chief of Narayani Irrigation Management Office here, said that the contract called by the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport for the approach and installation of the road was canceled due to non-availability of steel bailey bridge at Tilabe rivulet.

“Earlier, the Department of Roads had invited a contract worth Rs 33 million for the construction of the bailey bridge and approach road to be completed within the current fiscal year,” he said. However, the work has been stopped as the rainy season has already started. ’

Office chief Patel said that the process of re-inviting bids for the installation of road approach and bailey bridge of Tilabe bridge would be initiated as soon as the fiscal year starts.
