Kailali. Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolitan City-3, Chatakpur gaushala, which has been brought into operation for the management of stray cattle, has been earning income along with the management of stray cattle.
Established in 2074 BS, the gaushala currently has 143 stray animals, big and small. Of these, 27 are local breeds of milk-giving milch cows. According to Rita Awasthi, manager of the Cow Protection Service Committee, 32 litres of milk is being produced daily from these cows.
According to him, initially the sale of three liters of milk was started. At present, the company is earning Rs 86,400 per month at the rate of Rs 90 per liter.
“For the past few years, the gaushala has been producing manure and gothemal. This earns Rs 30,000 per month. The main income of the gaushala is from various religious programs including cow donation, shradh and puja,” said Gaushala Manager Awasthi.
The Gau Sanrakshan Seva Samiti has hired five staffers to take care of stray cattle in the gaushala. Rs 75,000 per month is spent on the salaries of the employees from the income earned from the gaushala. Similarly, animal feed is being spent on food such as straw, straw, new grain and pomegranate.
There is insufficient food for the cows in the cowshed. According to the management group, if adequate nutritious food is provided, income can be increased by increasing milk production.
“As there is a community gaushala, the government does not get the kind of support it should have,” said Awasthi, adding, “Sometimes there is some support from dhangadhi sub-metropolitan city, veterinary hospital and animal service center, but it is not enough to manage the gaushala.” Therefore, it is necessary to help manage it. ’
