Kathmandu. Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) President Chandra Prasad Dhakal has said there is a possibility of cooperation between Nepal and Rwanda in the fields of trade, tourism and investment.
Extending best wishes on the occasion of Rwanda’s Independence Day in Kathmandu on Friday, he said there was a possibility of cooperation between Nepal’s tea, herbs and handicrafts and Rwanda’s technology, agricultural processing and tourism business.
Nepal and Rwanda can collaborate on customs reform, use of digital tools, promotion of ease of doing business, joint trade forum and investment promotion, he added.
Talking about the reforms undertaken by Rwanda to ease of doing business, Chairman Dakal said that the initiative of the Rwanda Development Board, the process of registering the company within a day and the investment-friendly environment have attracted foreign investment in technology, finance, production and tourism. He said the progress made in coffee, tea, tourism and infrastructure development was a learning curve for the Nepali people as well.
“The visit to Rwanda shows us that even a small country can achieve big things,” Dhakal said. “Collaboration between strong institutions, the government and the private sector is the basis for this. We can learn this from Rwanda. ”
Stating that Rwanda’s courageous transformation journey was a source of inspiration for the Nepali people, Dhakal expressed high respect for Rwanda’s efforts to achieve peace, unity and progress after the genocide in 1994.
“Rwanda has made remarkable progress over the past three decades, ending a painful chapter in its history. “Rwanda’s economy has grown at an annual growth rate of 7-8 per cent in recent years. Strong leadership, people’s hard work and business-friendly policies have been the mainstay of Rwanda’s development. It’s inspiring for everyone.
