Kathmandu. Around 59 per cent paddy has been sown across the country so far. According to the Ministry of Agriculture Development, sowing has been done on 816,405 hectares of land till July 30. Compared to last year, there has been a decrease of about 8 percent in planting.
In terms of percentage of
, the highest number of 164,000 hectares have been planted in the Far-Western State. It is said that 93 percent of the saplings have been planted in the state. Sowing has been completed on 64,000 hectares of land in Karnali State. 83 percent of the planting has been done here. Sowing has been completed on 223,000 hectares of land in Lumbini Province and 73 per cent in percentage terms.
In TAG_OPEN_div_12 the same period last year, about 67 percent of paddy was sown. According to the data collected by the ministry till Sunday, sowing is going on in some parts of the country. It is estimated that 98 percent of the sowing will be done by the last week of July. Information Officer at the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development, Mahananda Joshi, said the Terai region is considered good in terms of paddy production and area. The region also contributed to 70 per cent of the total production of rice. 30 percent of the production is done in the hilly areas.
